News reports suggest that because a state law required $50 payment for the process of recounting votes was not turned in on time, a judge ruled that the votes in Altoona’s Second Ward 1st Precinct will not be counted a second time. Residents in this voting precinct requested a recount because some weren’t sure that all of the votes tallied were counted correctly. But because of the technical error, the votes will not be counted again. Voters wanted a recount to make sure that machine counted votes matched how voters actually cast their ballots. Attorney Tom Foor who represented the voters in this matter, said that he thinks many more of these situations will come up in future elections
