A report by WJAC indicates county coroner Jeff Lees says that Cambria County could be headed for its worst year in recent memory for drug overdose deaths. Lees said that Cambria already has reported 73 overdose deaths for 2022, and it has 20 more toxicology reports pending, which puts them just 1 behind a record 94 deaths back in 2016. Lees said that first responders are doing everything within their power to save lives, but the fentanyl that is killing most people is just too lethal. And he said that cocaine is making a strong comeback and has been detected in as many as 30 of the deaths recorded. 107,000 people across merica died from drug overdoses in a 12 month period that ended in July of this year.
