Lilla Jul Rockeband – “Winter Blitz 1799: The 12th Night”

For this week’s “Local Song of the Week,” we check out the newest holiday season creation by Lilla Jul Rockeband (Mauve Christmas Band) from Millersville University. Giving a Christmas seasonal spin to The Sweet’s 1973 classic “Ballroom Blitz,” Lilla Jul Rockeband’s “Winter Blitz 1799: The 12th Night” explores Twelfth Night (Epiphany Eve), a festival on the last night of the Twelve Days Of Christmas. The song and video craft a scenario of what such a festival might have looked and sounded like in 1799 through the lens of the Sweet’s classic and the imaginations of students in The Clair Brothers Music Business Technology Program at Millersville University. A cast of students appear in 1799 period attire to enjoy games, food and traditions of that era. The video was filmed at the historic Rock Ford (General Hands) Mansion in Lancaster, which was the residence of Revolutionary War General Edward Hand, who crossed the Delaware River with George Washington. Lilla Jul Rockeband (Mauve Christmas Band) is a Christmas season side project of MauveStröm, a classic rock performance class stemming from the Music Business Technology program at Millersville University.
