A statement from the Turnpike Commission says that the 5% increase went into effect yesterday and will affect E-Z Pass users, along with normal turnpike drivers, but the E-Z Pass customers still will continue to receive the lowest rates for traveling on the highway. Also the new fee collection law went into effect yesterday. That says that turnpike officials can now get together with PennDot to see who has outstanding tolls that need paid, or you risk losing or having your vehicle registration suspended. According to the new law, you can also lose your drivers license for 3 months, pay fines of up to $500, and you could have trouble with your auto insurance policy.
