Several news reports indicate police arrested 37 year old Dustin Martell for being on the run, avoiding a prison sentence for causing the overdose of a 1 year old child. Martell had reportedly fallen asleep while watching the child, when the baby swallowed a near fatal dose of heroin. First responders used Narcan to save the child’s life. Martell was sentenced to 3-10 years in state prison, but was on the run until his arrest on Friday at the Wingate Hotel. In addition to his prison sentence, Martell is now facing new charges of failing to report to prison.
