A report by WTAJ indicates the Senate voted unanaimously 49-0 to advance a bill that would end a ban that was signed into law, after a teacher from Indiana county was fired fro her job for wearing a cross necklace. As the law states now, a teacher must be fired after one year of suspension for multiple offenses, and administrators also can be fired for not enforcing the law. A federal court decision in pa in 2003 upheld that provision of a law. The bipartisan bill in the Senate now goes to the House for consideration.
