Philly man to prison for attacking 86 year old woman

WTAJ reported that 33 year old Derrick Harrison was given a 40-80 year sentence yesterday in Huntingdon county court for trying to kill an 86 year old woman who was living alone in her home. Harrsion broke into the victim’s home and strangled her. She was flown to UPMC Altoona where she began to recover from her injuries. Meanwhile, Harrison had stolen the victim’s 2001 Chevy Impala, her cellphone and $40 cash. The crime took place in 2021, and Harrison was arrested in July of that year. He reportedly used the woman’s phone to call his friends, which enabled state police to track down the phone and the car. He was convicted in November 2021 of attempted homicide, burglary and aggravated assault causing bodily injury.
