According to a report by WTAJ, police have charged 43 year old Heather Evans of Altoona with numerous crimes in connection with a fire on east 5thavenue on February 22, 2022. Firefighters arrived to find the second and third floors of the home totally submersed in flames. 75 year old Mark Stuart died from smoke inhalation, and 2 city firefighters were injured. One other man and a dog were rescued from the blaze. Evans has been charged with both 2nd and 3rd degree murder, aggravated arson, causing a catastrophe, aggravated assault and cruelty to animals. She was arrested yesterday and is awaiting her preliminary hearing.
