In a report by WTAJ, the State College food bank has announced it will move from its current South Atherton Street location to a new one on Gerald Street, where Apple Hill Antiques is located. The move will double the size of the food bank to 20,000 square feet. Executive Director Allayn Beck said that in the past 2 years, the food bank has seen an increase of more than 40% in its clientele. People will be able to come into the new pantry and pick out their own food, which will help cut down on waste according to Beck. Work on upgrading the new facility will begin this summer, and is set to open by the spring of 2024.
