WJAC reports that Jeff Thomas, the suspended Somerset County District Attorney is now challenging the suspension of his pay and benefits package while he awaits trial on charges that he raped a W woman in 2021. Thomas’s attorney says that even though there is a new law that allows counties to withhold pay from suspended lawyers, that law doesn’t apply here because Thomas was suspended before that law came into effect, and that he should receive his annual $185,000 salary.
