A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that council has introduced an ordinance that would allow Comcast to come into the city and set up shop. Creating competition with Breezeline, which has been the lone cable company in Altoona for decades. Council says that a second company will benefit customers with lower prices and better service. Comcast would also provide both internet and phone service to potential customers. Logan twp along with the city are considering the addition of Comcast to the area, but both have to approve franchise agreements in order for this to work. Duncansville has already approved its agreement. Antis and Frankstown Townships have decisions pending and Hollidaysburg is in possession of its agreement with Comcast.
