A report in the Altoona Mirror suggests that a petition drive spearheaded by Councilwoman Annette Lewis has garnered 154 signatures to put the question on the primary ballot of allowing liquor and beer sales in Duncansville. The borough has been a dry community since 1935. Lewis says this is one way to promote more and new businesses to come into Duncansville to help with the local economy. Most people contacted did sign the petition, but a few did refuse. The county board of elections will take up the matter at its 9:30 meeting this morning, and if approved, the question will go on the may primary ballot.
