In what just seemed to take a matter of minutes, both schools located on 6th and 7th avenues were in total lock down around 9:30 yesterday morning. School district police, along with Altoona and Logan Twp police and Blair County the Sheriff’s dept, arrived at the school after it was confirmed there was a threat called into the school. Superintendent Dr. Charles Prijatelj said that the call came from outside the building, and when city police were notified, they arrived within 60 seconds of the call coming in from 911. The call was allegedly for an active shooter, and that some students had been injured, but that turned out to be false. No shots were fired, and the buildings were secure within a matter of minutes. Prijatelj praised both city police and the school district force for acting swiftly and getting students and staff out of harms way.
