Sgt. Matt Plummer of the Altoona Police dept told television news that the calls have been traced to an out of state number and IP address as well. State police report the calls which are described as “swatting” meaning that multiple calls went out from a still unknown location. And this also presents a problem for law enforcement, when multiple calls are involved, it stretches the resources of law enforcement very thin. Since the calls originated from out of state, the FBI has been brought in to help investigate and track down the persons behind this hoax. Hollidaysburg and Bellefonte school districts also received a swatting call, and the University ot Pittsburgh also took precaution after it learned about a possible shooter at a nearby school.
