Peoples Natural Gas has announced that it has merged what is now called Peoples Natural Gas Company LLC, which took place on January 1st of this year. Along with that announcement, Peoples LLC also announced it has filed a request with the Public Utility Commission for a major rate reduction associated with the cost of natural gas. That request is for a price reduction of $262 million per year, beginning October 1st of this year. Residential customers who use an average of 86,000 cubic feet of gas, will see a savings of up to $37 a month on their bills. Small commercial and industrial customers will also see a large decrease for 183,000 cubic feet of usage of roughly $80 a month, and medium commercial users who use 2.4 million cubic feet of gas will see a drop of more than $900 in their monthly bills.
