The Altoona Mirror reports today that the Bellwood Antis school board has its preliminary budget for next year, with a proposed tax increase for residents. The report states that business manager Greg Gates told the board that one of two scenarios could play out. If state funding increases, then the district could use its fund balance to balance the budget. But if state funding does not increase, the district would be left with a larger deficit. Either way, the proposal does contain a tax increase that if passed, would cost each Bellwood resident an extra $80 in real estate taxes.
