WJAC reported that the Penns Valley School District was the last high school in Centre County to hire police officers for its schools, and that was done recently. The superintendent told channel 6 that because of its vast remote location of its schools, Penns Valley sits far away from state police, which causes a longer response time for any emergency. So the district, after hearing from parents decided to hire three new police officers. 91% of residents said in a survey that if it takes more tax dollars to hire the officers, they are in favor of that idea. The three new officers are now on the job.
