Blair commissioners mull over plans for settlement money

News reports indicate that the county commissioners are formulating plans to use money from a national drug settlement from a lawsuit, claiming that opioids caused an epidemic of overdoses. The commissioners think Blair County is in line to receive somewhere between $2 and $4.6 million to help start a recovery program inside the county prison. The announcement was made yesterday because a deadline to sign off on the lawsuit is looming next week. Outgoing commissioner Bruce Erb said the county may look at other options such as grants to fund this program, and use the settlement money for another project.
