A report by WTAJ indicates that the company got the go ahead from its board Monday evening to move forward with the purchases. However, the cost has risen sharply in just 3 years. AMED executive Director Gary Watters said that one ambulance cost $91,000 in 2019, and he received a quote this year at $139,000 each. AMED stated that it could not purchase the ambulances sooner thanks to the supply chain issue caused by the Covid 19 pandemic. AMED hopes to purchase 4 new ambulances, to replace some now in service longer than 7 years.
