Former Congressman Bud Shuster dies at 91

Congressman E.G. “Bud” Suster died yesterday according to news reports at the age of 91. Shuster spent 28 years as the 9th district congressman, and was noted for his role as chairman of the powerful house transportation committee in Washington, which brought hundreds of millions of dollars to the region in terms of highway construction and maintainence. Shuster will be forever remembered at the man also brought interstate 99 to existence, which connects Interstate 80 with the Pa turnpike, with the road coming right through Altoona. I-99 is also named the “Bud Shuster Highway”. Congressman Shuster also served his country in the Army from 1954-56.
