A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the Tyrone school board has unveiled its 23-24 spending plan, one that includes a potential property tax hike of 2.85% which is half of the Act I index of 5.7%. Tyrone covers three counties including Blair, Centre and Huntingdon. Tax bills would increase for residents in all three counties if approved by the board, and the total revenue taken in would be roughly $6.8 million. The district says that it expects to receive a little more than $19 million from the state and federal govt. 72% of the budget goes to salaries, benefits and pension system contributions. The final budget adoption is scheduled for June 13.
