According to an Altoona Mirror report, the Claysburg Kimmel school board has approved the proposed 23-24 school spending plan, one that does contain a 3% property tax increase. That means that the average homeowner will have to fork out an additional $23 to the district, which will generate an extra $93,000 of revenue. The budget approval also revealed that a potential deficit of more than $753,000 was wiped out, and turned into a budget surplus of nearly $122,000. The board went over various line items and apparently found enough cuts to eliminate the deficit. The board also voted last night to cut a music instructor position, with board officials saying that this will not effect the music program in the district.
