The Altoona Mirror reported that the borough decided to hire a 9th police officer to fill a vacant position, vacant since 2021. When the hiring process is complete, and the new officer is on the job, each shift in the borough will have two officers on duty. Chief Chris Storm says that he is grateful for outside police depts that come in and help when needed, but it would be easier to have its own officers for back up in all situations, which would end up saving time in an emergency and save lives as well. Chief Storm also said that his officers have been called to other jurisdictions when needed.
