Details are few this morning, but news reports say that city fire crews were called out to a blaze on the 200 block of maple avenue just minutes before midnight on Friday night. Authorities say that one male was killed in the house fire, and that the cause is under investigation, but it is suspected that the victim may have started the fatal blaze. Firefighters fought through the night, finally leaving the scene around 5 am Saturday. The name of the victim has not been released by police. The state police fire marshal and the Blair County coroner’s office are also investigating the fire.
