A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that John Wineland testified yesterday in his own defense that he never intended to hurt his family or anyone else during the 18 hour standoff with police. Law enforcement was called to the Wineland home in Tyrone last July after a call came in claiming that Wineland was intoxicated and heavily armed. Wineland was questioned by A.D.A Derek Elensky if it was his decision to remain in his home after repeated commands to exit, and he said yes, because he did nothing wrong. Wineland is accused of attempted aggravated assault, making terroristic threats, reckless endangerment, simple assault, flight from apprehension, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The trial is expected to conclude today.
