Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 2 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!
We again visited the mailboxes to check out new local and regional recordings that have arrived in recent days, and new music was again in the spotlight! We debuted new songs from Andrew Mrasz, As I Speak, Sterling Koch, The Jaded Lips, Roc MD, Abstentious, Solemind and Elephants Dancing! And since we were just two days away from July 4th, we broke out several numbers themed around or tied to July 4th, Independence Day, America and patriotism from members of The Badlees, Roadkill, Chris Woodward, Felix & the Hurricanes with Dan Myers II, Jackson Monsour and The Ne-er Do Wells! We also updated “Local Music News,” dug a 1985 song from area metalheads Slammer for a “Local Music Flashback,” stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a song from New York City’s Sound Of A Smirk, and reviewed both albums of The Jeremy Edge Project’s twin-album set Saints and Souls in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 070223.)

We’ll also hear songs from a few other area bluegrass and folk music performers, update “Local Music News,” dig a “Local Music Flashback” from the archive, step “Across State Lines” to hear music from an out-of-state band or artist, and review Alyssa Hankey’s Northerner album in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” Hear the “Homegrown Rocker” this Sunday night (July 9) on Q94 Classic Rock – 94.3 FM and online at www.q94classicrock.com, and on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM, online at www.1071jack.fm!
