News reports suggest that Norfolk Southern has announced that it will cost $803 million for the cleanup effort in the small Ohio town. A train derailed back in February, causing a massive spill of toxic chemicals into the air and ground. Norfolk southern decided then to explode some tank cars to burn off chemicals contained inside. NS says that the price of the cleanup has more than doubled in recent months, and the $803 million figure does not include funds that residents will need to recover from long term health effects, or lower home value prices and drinking water issues. Norfolk Southern stated recently that they believe other companies that were allegedly involved in the derailment should share the cost of the cleanup and recovery efforts.
