Television news reports indicate that Clearfield County D.A. Ryan Sayers told reporters yesterday, that his office cannot prosecute cases that involve Pred Hunter groups that set out to catch child sexual predators. Sayers said that it must be law enforcement or an actual underage person acting as a decoy to lure child predators out from the shadows. Judge Fred Ammerman threw out several cases involving suspected predators who were caught by these groups trying to hookup with what they thought were children for sex. Sayers aid he does not support the alleged defendants who were caught, but his office has no legal standing to prosecute.
