A report by WJAC indicates that an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man who was fleeing from troopers was justified. Investigators have determined that the troopers attempted a traffic stop on John Dye on July 2nd. Dye the fled in his vehicle, taking troopers on a high speed chase through Indiana County for approximately 20 minutes. Troopers said that Dye tried to pin his truck against a state police cruiser, when he was shot, and died at the scene. Police said that Dye was under the influence at the time. The Indiana County D.A. Said that the trooper who shot Dye was justified in using deadly force to protect himself and other troopers who were on the scene.
