In a report from the state capital, republican legislator Greg Rothman of Cumberland, Perry and Dauphin counties has proposed a bill earlier this year that would eliminate the state personal income tax. The current tax stands at 3.07% . Rothman in his proposal, said that Pennsylvania has hurt itself with outrageous taxes, and taking this tax away could fuel a resurgence in business growth, and could keep workers from leaving for other states. Currently, the commonwealth charges personal income tax on 8 different categories of income. This goes along with the idea of eliminating property taxes for homeowners, an idea that we have been hearing for multiple decades.
