A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the borough is considering some changes that would speed up the process. The idea came from the fact that recently, Hollidaysburg announced that only 2 people applied for a newly created 9th officers position in the borough. One change would lower the minimum age to apply from 21 to 19. Another change would be a candidate could live between 15 and 30 air miles away from the borough. The final change would be that the borough would help pay for act 120 police training, which is necessary to be employed as a police officer in Pa. And if a candidate fails the act 120 training, he or she would be required to reimburse the borough for that training.
