The Altoona Mirror reports that AMED will use two new vehicles for its paramedics to use to go out on calls, but with one exception. These new vehicles will not be equipped with gurneys used to transport patients to hospitals. Instead, the ambulances with gurneys can be used with emergency medical technicians, which will keep the other mobile units with paramedics free to answer high priority calls calls. AMED says that its paramedic workforce is down to just 22 workers, about 30% below what they would like to have.
