A television news report suggests that those in Harrisburg want to make it very easy for unregistered voters to become registered. Gov. Josh Shapiro says his administration would automatically make residents eligible to vote when they renew or are getting their drivers license. Shapiro says that legislation for this move is not necessary, and the change can be made at any Pa drivers license center. Drivers still would have the option to register. Pennsylvania has some 1.4 million unregistered voters who are at least 18 years of age, which is the minimum age to vote. 23 states have the automatic voter registration.
