In a story from the Associated Press, a man who found a bag containing close to $5000 outside of a bank, thought about keeping it. Once he did he was arrested and charged with larceny. The money belonged to a local tax office in Connecticut. The story reported that a town employee had accidentally dropped the bag while on his way to the bank. 57 year old Robert Withington found the cash and drove off, not knowing who was the rightful owner. Withington admitted that he was not going to return the money, but did after some time. He was charged with larceny, but those charges were dropped after prosecutors heard his story, and that he wrote a check for the full amount of $4761 to the bank.
