A news report by WTAJ indicates that the estate of Kaitlyn Evans has filed a federal lawsuit claiming that Evans died while in need of medical attention. The report claims that Evans was in distress for allegedly not getting emergency care after an opioid overdose while behind bars. The suit alleges that inmates were getting fentanyl while in jail from inmate Angela Ricketts, and that prison officials were aware that Ricketts had the drugs, but did not bother to locate her stash. Evans was found in her cell, and was not given immediate medical attention according to the suit.
