A report by WJAC indicates the school presented war veteran George Swartz with his honorary high school diploma. Swartz left the school in 1968 to join the United States Army. He was then sent to fight in Vietnam, and returned home after his tour was finished. On Friday night, Swartz was given his honorary diploma at halftime of the Altoona-Carlisle football game. Swatrz said he regretted that his wife was not there to see the ceremony. The school has awarded 2 such diplomas.
