The Altoona Mirror reports that the Blair County commissioners voted yesterday to enter into a contract with our neighbors to the north to house inmates for $75 per day at the jail located in Bellefonte. The contract is temporary in nature according to the report. The reason for the prisoner movement is so work can get underway with improving security at the Blair County jail, and some maintenance work can also get done. Some inmates at the Blair jail have to be housed in the gym. The contract could run into 2024, with an unprojected cost for Blair County.
