Altoona residents could be facing a property tax increase. Last night Altoona City Council approved a tentative budget that includes a half-mill hike. If council approves the budget next month, that means an owner of property assessed at $100,000 will pay an extra $50 dollars next year. Reportedly this proposed hike is necessary to offset a deficit next year of one million dollars.
