The report states that the commonwealth has short changed Blair County in terms of covering court costs for staff salaries, benefits and other paid expenses. The county could get stuck with a tab that totals slightly more than $439,000 for calendar year 2022. The state sent only $226,853 for those costs. The balance of which could fall on the shoulders of the taxpayers. The state supreme court proposed back in 1987, that the state should fully fund the costs for all 67 county court systems, but the legislature has failed to do so. Outgoing commissioner Bruce Erb said he is tired of bringing up the failure of the state to reimburse Blair County for court costs.
