One of the oldest penguins in the U.S. is turning 39 today. An early birthday celebration was held for Mickey the macaroni penguin at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium yesterday. Animal experts say Mickey is getting up there, as macaroni penguins typically live for only 15 to 20 years in the wild, but, many have been known to live into their 30’s when cared for in captivity. Mickey hatched in 1984 and she was moved into the Pittsburgh Zoo in 2003.
