A federal court has directed the Commonwealth to accept mail ballots that a voter has failed to date or misdated. Judge Susan Baxter of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pa., made the ruling yesterday. The ruling argues that a state law rejecting such votes violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania is a plaintiff in the case and the Republican National Committee is a defendant. The ruling is likely to be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court and has national implications because of the upcoming elections in 2024.
