Skills game legal…for now, challenge likely!

A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates the court ruled that the popular games for bars, taverns, clubs, fire halls, veterans service organizations and some convenience stores are not slot machines. A member of the machine maker Plex o Matic is now urging the state legislature to create a law that would begin taxing the machines, instead of outlawing them as slots. The maker would rather see a tax imposed, than not being able to distribute the machines. A law could possibly generate some $300 million a year for the state. Senate bill 969 introduced 2 weeks ago by Democratic Senator Amanda Cappelitti would ban the machines altogether, but Senate bill 706 introduced back in may would tax the machines.
