A corrections officer at the State Prison in Houtzdale has been charged with three felony counts of intimidating a witness/victim, along with numerous other charges. 42 year old Steven Poborsky of South Fork was charged earlier this week for an incident that occurred at the prison this past February. It is alleged that Poborsky deliberately injured an inmate who went to the prison nurse for treatment. When the nurse asked the inmate how the injury occurred, he began to explain, at which point Poborsky asked the inmate if he wanted to make false claims. Poborsky then allegedly grabbed the inmate by the throat and threw him on an exam table. Other corrections officers in the room had to pull Poborsky off the victim. Both the inmate and the nurse reported that they felt threatened by Poborsky. All the charges were held to court during a preliminary hearing that occurred on Wednesday in Clearfield County. Poborsky is free on $100,000 unsecured bail.
