A former Pennsylvania healthcare CEO has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and defrauding Medicare. She’s 40 year old Florentina Mayko from Richland Township, Cambria County. From 2017 to 2019, Mayko, who served as CEO for Pain Medicine of York, Pa., and her co-conspirators submitted medically unnecessary urine drug tests for chronic opioid patients at medical clinics where she served as CEO, and that’s according to a news release from the Justice Department. Reportedly from 2017-2019 the clinic billed more than $10 million in urine tests, and Medicare paid more than $5 million. When unnecessary tests were billed, the York facility received the proceeds. The release from the Justice Department says that Mayko earned a half a million dollars each year in 2018 and 19.
