Governor Shapiro says Pennsylvania will be using federal funds to plug abandoned gas wells. Officials from the state department of environmental protection say when a well is left unplugged, it can leak oil and other toxic chemicals, endanger water supplies and emit methane gases. More than 44-million-dollars from the Inflation Reduction Act will fund the state efforts.
