Legislation could be reported in the State House again soon that could help to defeat Medicaid fraud and abuse. Representative Mike Cabell says his House Bill 876 would require Medicaid providers to use a State Identifier when filing a claim if they’ve not been given a national one. He says the measure will help cut down on abuse by restricting provider changes and payments. Acting Attorney General Michelle Henry late last year announced the arrests or convictions of providers who are accused of illegally billing Medicaid to the tune of 800-thousand-dollars.
