Recent data released from the U.S. Census Bureau shows population decline in Pennsylvania could affect Congressional representation by the year 2030. The Commonwealth has lost a little over ten-thousand people for a total population of just under 13-million, while the data shows neighboring states continue to grow. Analysts say if that keeps up, the state’s congressional seats would be reduced in reapportionment to 16 total, down from the current 17 districts. Officials say the good news is that Pennsylvania’s decline is slowing; only 42-thousand-people were lost in 2022.
