Two Altoona Area High School teachers are under investigation for an alleged racial incident.  The investigation is being conducted by both the school district and the Blair County NAACP. Reportedly a black student’s ID was hung next to a picture of an asparagus looking cartoon character from the TV show “Veggie Tales.” Reportedly the student later told his aunt that a teacher pointed out the photos to the student who had an afro, when he walked in front of the classroom. In this morning’s Altoona Mirror, Blair County NAACP President Andrae Holsey said that two teachers, along with school administrators and a school police officer are being investigated.  Holsey noted that the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act protects individuals from discrimination for features that are platonic to their race. The alleged incident reportedly occurred last Thursday.
