A 30 year old Altoona man is awaiting extradition to Blair County and faces charges of murder in the stabbing death of his mother. Joshua Leyo is currently in police custody at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh after he allegedly confessed to killing his 61 year old mother at their Fairview Hills apartment, on Wednesday afternoon. Altoona Police say the victim, identified as Maureen Mazenko was killed during an argument. After the stabbing, Leyo reportedly took an Uber to Pittsburgh where authorities tracked him down at the Pittsburgh International Airport. Police say Leyo had jumped from the second floor of the parking garage at the airport and was being treated for serious injuries at the Allegheny General Hospital. He faces charges of murder in the first degree, and aggravated assault, among other charges. Leyo is currently on probation for an incident that occurred three years ago when he threatened a juvenile with a knife after becoming angry over loud music.
