Johnstown Woman Pleads Guilty to Charges From Fatal Overdose of Daughter

A 27 year old Johnstown woman pled guilty yesterday to charges stemming from the overdose death of her daughter two years ago. Volaura Askew pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and other charges.  According to the office of Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, as part of a plea agreement, Askew was sentenced to two to four years in state prison. On October 27th, 2022 Askew’s five year old daughter was exposed to fentanyl and heroin in the hours and days before she was found dead. An autopsy later revealed the little girl died of a fentanyl overdose.
